HotelThere are several large international airports in New York, John F. Kennedy International Airport being the busiest one. The airport, commonly known as JFK, offers direct connections to almost 200 airports around the world and is an important hub in the US. JFK is also the main hub for American Airlines and Delta Air Lines, and the primary operating base for low cost operator JetBlue.
There are five different passenger terminals at JFK Airport – terminal 1, 4, 5, 7 and 8. In total you find 130 gates at the airport and direct flights to all six continents. Terminal 1: This terminal is mainly served by carriers from the airline alliances Star Alliance and Oneworld. Some of the airlines working here are Air France, Air China and Lufthansa.
Terminal 4: Terminal 4 is the hub for Delta Air Lines, and you can also find flights with for example Avianca and Emirates here.
Terminal 5: The terminal opened in 2008 and designated for flights operated by JetBlue.
Terminal 7: Terminal 7 is home to for example Alaska Airlines, Air Canada and Aer Lingus.
Terminal 8: This is where you find American Airlines, British Airways and a number of other major airlines from the Oneworld alliance.
JFK is definitely a large airport, and the most convenient way to get around is by using the airtrain. The airtrain system connects all the terminals to everything from the public transportation network to parking lots and the rental car center. Within the airport system the airtrain is free of charge, and the train operates 24 hours a day all year long.
All five terminals at John F. Kennedy Airport holds a range of restaurants, cafés and bars. You find everything from lighter meals and drinks to fast food and steakhouses, making sure there is something for all flavors.
